My iphone 5 doesnt want to charge. I plug it into the outlet or on my laptop but still doesnt charge. It shows the screen that it is charging but it stays like that for hours but still doesnt work. I have dropped it a couple of times when i first got it but it has been about three weeks since i have last dropped it. i sort of figured if it was because i dropped it, it would have stopped working that same week or so.
Also, when i try to charge it on my laptop, it doesnt show that my phone has been detected. it just shows that its charging but the charging bar stays red and doesnt charge
Try these steps as needed:
1. Reset phone (no data loss): press both home and power buttons for at least 10 seconds, releasing when the Apple logo appears.
2. Restore in iTunes, with and without using a backup (if needed)
if not able to restore, see this:
3. Try a new cable (might try this first)
4. If restoring as new and using a new cable doesn't help, there is certainly hardware damage.
I have pressed the home and power button at the same time but still doesnt work. I dont think its the charger because my sister in law has an iphone 5 as well and I tried her charger but still nothing. Guess im screwed, my iphones hardware is damaged I suppose.
Did you try restoring as suggested? Only a small chance it will help, but worth a shot.
