Is anyone else having problems sending pictures in text messages withthe iPhone 5? Does anyone know how to fix it?
It says sending, but it takes forever to load. Finally, it says that the text with the picute could not be sent.
Having this same prob with iPhone 4s after updating to ios6
I thinking your scenario is that you are using WiFi and your recipient is a non-iphone user. To send pictures to non-iphones you need to turn on Cellular Data. I hope this works.
No, this is not the scenario. All my settings are correct. I was sending pics with iMessage just fine on 5.1.1, I then decided to "upgrade" to iOS 6 and can no longer send pics on wifi. It gets to about 95% and just hangs there. About 10 mins later it either errors out as not delivered or sends it as a text message. I have a very small text package, so this is unacceptable and i shouldn't need it with iMessage... If only it would work. I have attempted every fix possible...with no success.
I have a iPhone 4s on AT&T with a paid plan. I have reset all network settings, renewed license, reset all factory settings, erased iPhone and restored, checked and rechecked every setting known to apple-kind. Only way I can get around it at this time is to email the pic to myself and then iMessage it using my iPad which has not and will not be updated.
Any working fix would be greatly appreciated.
I am having the EXACT same issue as you. I have called ATandT and Apple though each one is blaming the other. Nothing is getting done. I am sick and tired of having a device with features that I cannot use.
Sorry, I was referring to the originial message concerning the iphone 5.
However, in your case, I'll just add some info which I'm sure you already attempted, but anyway...
iPhone to iPhone over wifi not working - an issue that needs a ticket
iPhone to non-iPhone over wifi not working - turn on cellular data
iMessages work with wifi because it is an apple service that bypasses your carrier. It needs to be iphone to iphone. If the MMS is going from iphone to non-iphone then it requires cellular data from your carrier. Being on wifi for this has no bearing. Still, since yours is an upgrade scenario on a 4s, who knows what the issue could be. I'm sure you did this too but calling your carrier to make sure no weird blocks or flags were put on your phone is perhapas worth a shot.
I didn't bother calling, figured I'd just get the run around. I'm just hoping someone at Apple is trolling these boards and hopefully it will be fixed with the next "update". Sending pics on iMessages, using my wifi, is extremely important. I just hope they fix this soon!!!!!
I even went as far as opening the suggested ports on my router, but that didn't work either. I should have known better then to update. This problem is definately tied to iOS 6. If they can't find a fix i'd at least like to be able to revert back to 5.1.1. I can live without panoramic pics and a non-functioning map app.
outtapocket......I was having this same problem and I fixed it by doing exactly as you suggested.
