I am getting the unlocked T-mobile iPhone 5s as soon as it comes out. I am not currently in the US but someone will buy it for me from there and ship it to me right away. Will it work abroad (Philippines) they use GSM here like AT&T and T-Mobile
My initial thought is, it will work here. but I wanted some assurance from someone who might probably know or tried it before?
Yes it will work, but most likely won't support LTE where you live, & you'll have to mail the phone back to your friend in the US for all warranty/support issues.
@wjosten, can you please confirm why you think the t-mobile unlocked 5s will not support LTE on an overseas carrier? Has Apple published any such advisory?
Visit this page for official LTE support for the various iPhone 5 models
None are global phones
Also refer this Wifi page to identify what frequencies are allotted to your own countries networks
In the case of the OP they will need a phone deployed with bands 1 3 and 5 luckly the US phones do support these frequencies.
There is no one here from "tech support", just us volunteers. Call the cell provider you plan to use and ask them what LTE bands they are using then check them with the links provided here.
How much is a flight back to the US and a 2 night hotel stay? Because if something fails on the hardware you will have to return to the US to get it repaired.
