Owned this 4s for a few months now. It has worked beautifully until yesterday. First, it was a fight to connect my Bluetooth headset to the phone, which is an everyday thing. Then I tried to get Siri to make a hands free call for me, which has also been an everyday thing until now. She replies " I'm not permitted to do that" She'll answer any question I ask, but she refuses to place a call... What gives ?
Have you tried rebooting your iPhone by pressing and holding both the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time until the Apple symbol appears, ignoring the power off slider?
Thanks for replying. Yes, I've done numerous hard resets to the phone with no success.
I was shocked and honestly aggravated when I called Apple and they wanted me to pay for support.
I don't think this problem is due to anything I directly did. I'm almost tempted to run over this thing, and go buy a DROID if that is Apples response
Before you run over it, try the standard troubleshooting...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
If still a problem restore from your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue which might be replaced under warranty.
I had this same problem - started yesterday. Tried several hard resets without helping. Eventually did an iTunes restore and that fixed it.
